Fournier’s gangrene: a case series analysis from an emergency care hospital

Abstract
Fournier’s gangrene remains a pressing challenge in urology due to the absence of unified treatment standards and clear criteria for selecting the appropriate level of inpatient care. We analysed 20 clinical cases treated at the Rostov-on-Don City Emergency Hospital. All patients had significant comorbidities, predominantly involving the cardiovascular and endocrine systems. Postoperative complications were more frequent in patients with diabetes mellitus. The mortality rate was 25%. Optimal management includes extensive necrectomy with excision of visibly healthy tissue margins, thorough postoperative wound care, autologous skin grafting for large soft-tissue defects, and comprehensive conservative therapy.
